Your curves bring complete chaos, distress, death; yet life cannot exist without you.<br> You awaken, reinvigorate, restore and yet destroy. Too much of you kills. Not enough of you kills. Well, now we become One, as your fatal flows seep into me. I’d rather your flow, after all.<br> Your manic waves will anchor me, your rush will bring me a balance I’ve never known. How can you be so delicate, yet so heavy as you so swiftly consume me? Well, at least I know what you’ll do to me, how much you’ll hurt me. You’ll be the one to claim my life - not Them - so of course I want you. I need you. I can’t say your deadly rhythm wasn’t transparent, after all. <br> In this moment, I’m reminded of my unborn - my vulnerability whilst I was surrounded by your safety... growing in your blissful ignorance, not to know what would await me out There. Well, we’ve come full circle now. I’ll be life and death in you. <br> It’s just bad luck though, isn’t it? This time, this place - this race? But why me? Why ME?! How will anyone ever know me now? <br> Well, I definitely existed. I did! My pain is the proof. Will my spirit be remembered - will my destinity hurt or help the ones after me? For my agony is my only legacy. <br> My soul is all that’s left now - it soars above the oppresive air. Maybe we’ll guide someone, together. You’ll be better to those after me, they will cherish your paralysing azure in their freedom. <br> I chose this ending. I saved myself - me and mine, but thank you for rescuing me. <br> - <br> This emotive piece and accompanying story found me through looking back at the possibilities of ancestor's lives.<br> After not practicing Art for around a decade, this was the very first piece bring me back into my creativity, after being immensely inspired by an Afro-Futurism exhibition in London.<br> At One is a finger-painting, the use of tools seemed inauthentic as the best way I could express my emotion was with my hands.
